The power of enchantment
Save the date and don’t say I didn’t warn you: May 7, 2014.
That’s when Santa Cruz New Tech Meetup will host Guy Kawasaki.
Kawasaki will talk about the subject of his tenth book: Enchantment: The Art of Changing Hearts, Minds, and Actions. In it, he explains how to influence what people will do while maintaining the highest standards of ethics. The goal is not to get your own way but to bring about voluntary, enduring, and delightful change. “The power of enchantment enables you to maneuver through difficult decisions, break entrenched habits, defy the wisdom of crowds, and get colleagues to work for long-term, mutually beneficial goals,” according to Kawasaki.
The Santa Cruz New Tech Meetup, one of the most popular in Santa Cruz with almost 1500 members, just celebrated its sixth anniversary in February.
“Whatever is gold, Guy touches.”
Take a look at Guy’s Golden Touch, a list of organizations that Kawasaki advises or has invested in. The list includes Alltop, Evernote, StumbleUpon, TicketLeap, and more.
Reflecting on his time as a Stanford student and the beginning of his career at Apple, Kawasaki said:
When I saw what a Macintosh could do, the clouds parted and the angels started singing.
Kawasaki official bio says: “Guy Kawasaki is a special advisor to the Motorola business unit of Google. He is also the author of APE, What the Plus!, Enchantment, and nine other books. Previously, he was the chief evangelist of Apple. Kawasaki has a BA from Stanford University and an MBA from UCLA as well as an honorary doctorate from Babson College.”
Doug Erickson, founder of the Santa Cruz New Tech Meetup is thrilled to host Kawasaki here in Santa Cruz. Erickson says:
We decided to shoot for the stars and get somebody phenomenal.
