Former Executive Director of Verizon’s Global Security Product Organization Tapped to Drive New Era of Growth
Catbird, a leader in software-defined security, today introduced cybersecurity executive Bart Vansevenant as Catbird’s Chief Marketing Officer. Vansevenant comes to Catbird from Verizon, where he was Executive Director of the Global Security Product Organization, responsible for strategy, product management and development for the company’s security portfolio worldwide. Over the past two years he introduced Big Data and Analytics technologies further strengthening Verizon’s market leading MSS platform and added new service levels expanding the portfolio’s global market reach.
“Today is an exciting day for Catbird and its employees,” said Catbird CEO David Keasey. “Bart is a world-class leader in cybersecurity. He brings more than 20 years of security and information technology strategy, marketing and product experience to Catbird. Bart will be instrumental in driving further innovation and growth of Catbird’s software-defined security offerings.”
“As organizations virtualize their data centers and deploy private and hybrid clouds, they require security technologies that provide insight into what is happening within their virtual fabric, and enforce appropriate security policies instantly,” said Vansevenant. “Catbird’s software-defined security suite was designed from the ground up to do exactly that. It re-enforces the business value of virtualization and data center automation, providing increased agility and lower operations cost. I’m delighted to join the Catbird team and evangelize this unique technology.”
Prior to Verizon, Vansevenant held executive roles at Cybertrust, and in Europe’s pioneer in Managed Security Services, Ubizen. Vansevenant also worked in various sales, marketing and product roles at cable company Telenet and at Oracle. He holds a Masters in Applied Economics from Universiteit Antwerpen.
Catbird named “Vendor to Watch”
Catbird was recently named as one of three “Vendors to Watch” in a Gartner Market Trend report titled “Market Trends: What Security Providers Need to Know About Data Center Automation”, published January 13, 2015.
Author Eric Ahlm, Security Research Director at Gartner wrote, “Early adopters of SDN, NFV and other data center automation solutions have seen measurable results in DC operational cost reduction and business agility. Security technologies that can’t reduce operational cost and add business agility will be disrupted by those that can in the DCs of the future.”
