FileOpen: first small biz in live-work Delaware Addition

Sanford Bingham and Diana Holm christened their new live-work space in the Delaware Addition with a party Saturday (January 24) for 100 people, complete with a mirror ball, a conference table that converts to a pool table and a movie projected on a wall that a viewer said was bigger than most of the screens at The Nickelodeon theater.
And they are anticipating neighbors: Caletti Cycles, a custom bike-maker founded by John Caletti, and his wife Cory, a transportation planner, plus a studio featuring the work of internationally known photographer Frans Lanting.
Four years ago, Bingham and Holm were new in town and did not know anybody. They discovered the Santa Cruz live-work development online while they were living in New York and called Santa Cruz developer Craig French, deciding the project was a perfect fit.
“If we would have designed a project, this would have been it,” Holm said.
“Obviously they were attracted to the building design I did because it matched their aesthetic,” said architect Mark Primack, the visionary who spent eight years on the Delaware Addition.
