Once Deployed, Company’s Catbird Secure to Detect and Prevent Lateral Spread of Malware and Other Security Threats within Army’s Network

Catbird, a leader in software-defined segmentation and security for the hybrid IT infrastructure, today announced that the U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM) has issued a Certificate of Networthiness (CoN) that allows Catbird Secure security software to be used on the Army’s network. Catbird Secure helps the US Army to implement segmentation boundaries within its virtual datacenters, and provides continuous monitoring for situational awareness and evidence/assurance of control. The CoN accreditation from the United States Army analyzes and ensures that Catbird Secure meets strict Army and Department of Defense (DoD) standards for network security, compatibility and sustainability.

“The cyber adversary has consistently demonstrated the ability to penetrate traditional perimeter defenses.  Network defenders must assume hackers are inside their perimeters and take steps to increase monitoring and harden the interior. The most recent Ukrainian power blackout caused by the BlackEnergy malware is another example how threats move from workstations to sensitive resources within protected environments.”  said Leo Taddeo, Former FBI Special Agent in Charge of Cyber/Special Ops and also Chief Security Officer at Cryptzone. “I’m delighted to see another barrier removed so that the Federal and defense agencies can avail themselves to state of the art protection such as Catbird. I’m pleased to see companies like Catbird gain this approval”

“Today’s government organizations are being challenged more than ever to maintain the highest level of data and network security.  We are delighted to have achieved this prestigious and rigorous designation from the U.S Army’s NETCOM division,” said David Keasey, CEO of Catbird.  “We look forward to providing them with the critical intelligence and visibility for effective management of their virtual data centers and network infrastructure.”

Catbird’s software suite was designed from the ground up to provide visibility into and protection of private clouds and virtual data centers. Catbird Insight automatically and continuously discovers all assets in an organization’s virtual fabric, allows the grouping of these assets into logical Catbird TrustZones®, and visualizes asset relationships and the east-west traffic flows between them for improved analytics. Catbird Secure enables automated enforcement of flexible security policies across Catbird TrustZones. The platform detects and alerts on potential security incidents, initiates corrective enforcement actions, and provides instant compliance reporting for major standards and mandates.
