You may know — perhaps from reading Santa Cruz Tech Beat — that Imprivata, an IT security company headquartered in Lexington, MA, has maintained a software development office in downtown Santa Cruz focused on the development of their healthcare industry secure texting product called Cortext. [Santa Cruz Tech Beat published articles about Imprivata’s local activity here and here and here.]
Unfortunately for those who were employed locally, Imprivata is closing the Santa Cruz office, and consolidating the work back in Lexington.
Here’s the official statement from Imprivata’s CEO:
“As we strive to improve our processes and achieve operational excellence to effectively deliver the technologically superior solutions our customers want and need, with appropriate integration across our portfolio, we have come to a decision to combine our offices in the U.S., closing our West Coast offices and consolidating in Lexington, Massachusetts as the center of core Imprivata development. Exact dates of office closures are not yet known, however we began the shutdown process on April third of this year.” – Gus Malezis, President and Chief Executive Officer of Imprivata
Last November, Smith Micro closed their local development office located in the Cruzio building, however I wasn’t able to get an official statement from anybody in the company. Santa Cruz Tech Beat published articles about Smith Micro’s local activity here and here and here.
