Bennett Roesch (December 21, 1989 – September 8, 2017): Programmer, Juggler, Friend, and Beloved NextSpacer
“It is with much sadness we inform our community of the loss of one of our members Bennett Roesch. Bennett came to Santa Cruz around 2008 to attend UCSC and pursue computer science. He joined the NextSpace community in 2010 to assist in the creation of a training class for web application programming. He worked for a local company for a few years until branching out on his own to pursue his many passions. One in particular was his Fire Fractals project which generated magnificent art based on a computer algorithm. You may have seen his work hanging on the wall of NextSpace in 2017. Bennett was not only a brilliant programmer, but he was a pillar of the NextSpace community for the past 8 years. He enjoyed teaching people to code and was always willing to help anyone. Bennett was an accomplished juggler and fire spinner, and strong advocate for having game nights at NextSpace. Bennett had a lot of friends inside and outside our community. He was known for always seeking truth, and with this disposition he was very relate-able and provided support to many people through open and transparent discussion.” Chris Miller, September 12, 2017
